Giving up. Sad.

This book makes me sad. I have now moved it twice. It's somewhere in a box. Yet I can't close it out. I must finish it someday.

Yeah, we moved. The book...who knows? I'm sure we packed it. Because obviously I am going to finish it someday...year.

Listening to this on audiobook. Loving it so far; the narrator is keeping me hooked.

This book is right up my alley.

Listening to this in the car. Want to take bets on if I get further with it than We Were the Mulvaneys?

Hmm, I think this book is now overdue at the library. Guess you could say it didn't grab me like The Humans.

This is so different from The Humans. Matt Haig seems like an experimental author who is not going to have a set "style." I'm not turning the pages as fast, but it's still fine.

Just started this audiobook. The narrator sounds really young. But so far, good storyline. Easy to listen to while driving.

I'm listening to this on my commute, on disc 3. I thought this would be great because the setting is a university. But it's not like the university where I work. Do people really live like this? Depressing.

All right, ready for a cross country train ride about one third of the way through this book. I expect to be done when we step off in the Pacific Northwest!

Good news! I found the book again! It's downstairs in the craft room on the bookshelf. Bad news. The bookmark is gone.

Hey, I found the book. It was behind the night table. So I put it somewhere else. I can't remember where.

I'm listening to this on audiobook in the car. Just started it yesterday. So far, so good, though the reader makes it hard to know when a sentence is really ending. Sometimes he pauses and I think it's the end of a sentence, but it's not. Hmm.

Another story with a bad husband named Adam, another family with the surname Mallory? You know an author is incredibly prolific when she has to reuse names.

I've found two typos in this book so far. One was a spelling mistake (can't remember specifically) and the other was the name of Rueben/Ruben spelled inconsistently. Where's the editor?!?

Finally found a book that is engrossing from page 1!

Hmm, started this book over two years ago. Have since moved. Not even sure where the book went. Bets on whether I find it and finish it?

I'm over halfway through the book (mine has 236 pages) and I still do not have any sense of who the characters are, how they relate to each other.

Is this really the same author as Drowning Ruth? Doesn't seem like it. But I'll keep going, in case it's great at the end.

Just started this book today, immediately after finishing Dear Lucy. So far, so good. Except is this what a typical NYC/Brooklyn mother is like?

"But some things should remain private. I told her that as well. I don't know whether she listened to me, but I hope so. Otherwise, I only had a stubborn bladder inflammation to show for the trouble of sitting there in her freezing house."

An excerpt that made me laugh despite the serious topic:

"Snow must have just fallen over the city; the grass was still white. In Stockholm, it only took a day or two for snow to turn into a dirty-gray slush. She placed her mittens on a park bench and then sat down on them as protection under her seat. Urinary tract infections were nothing to play around with; that was the last thing she needed right now."

Okay, suddenly people are praying. Praying about business decisions. Dear God, please don't let this book get all religious on me!

Really enjoying this book so far. It reads more like a hardboiled mystery than poetic prose, but the Titanic-related mystery keeps me turning the pages as quickly as I can.

Why do I keep thinking I like Neil Gaiman? Another book like most of the others, so far -- starts out like it's going to be a great, spooky ghost story, then goes completely nuts and you think this must be a dream within a dream.
