Caprice Hokstad is 47% done with These Old Shades (Alistair, #1)

I'm nearly halfway done with this book and I'm confused. The public library labeled this as "Historical Romance" but I have seen no hint of a romance yet. It was also labeled as "Book 1 of Alastair-Audley Tetralogy" and as yet, there is no character or family named Audley. The revenge and Pygmalion themes are interesting enough to continue, but I feel misled.

Required textbook for required class that seems quite ridiculous when I already have 180 college credits. But putting it on my shelf to explain why other reading is slowing down right now. I'm sure it has good material, just not really relevant to me at this stage.
