Amanda is on page 256 of 577 of The Invaders Plan (Mission Earth, #1)
I read the Mission Earth decalogy 20 or 30 years ago and loved it. Wanted to give it another go given how much more crazy the world is these days and see how the satire holds up for me. Still enjoying it greatly, just taking it slow and reading between other books, often as I wait for library holds. No rush as a reread, especially with 9 more volumes to go 😆

Fascinating so far. I wish I had a product to market.

My first impression - kinda (very) condescending, kinda depressing, with a lot of common sense and a smattering of actually helpful ideas. Worth the condescending? I dunno, we'll see next time my place in the library hold queue comes up. Not one I'd buy.

I'm used to being knocked over the head with the author's views these days, but Stephen King has elevated it to making you dig a hole with a dull shovel, dropping you in, taking a sledgehammer, smashing you to mush with his Point, then capping the hole with cement. Don't care what your views are, that's not what I came for. I love King and was looking forward to this, but finding it a slog, still in chapter one

I wanted to love this book. The premise sounded so great. But I should just admit to myself that I'm not getting any further in this book, let alone finishing it. I pushed through a third of it, just hoping something would suddenly tie together and make the trudge there pay off and make it all worthwhile. I could be wrong, but I don't think that's going to happen. Too many books I want to read to have this just sit.

This book is all over the place, and I can't decide what I think. Is it fantasy, humor, folklore, or a text book? It has all, but they are so solidly delineated with no hint of pulling together that I just can't yet see how they will. Some awkward and hard to trudge through, the humor falls flat, then sections so interesting it seems a different author. Maybe it's cultural differences. Not what I was expecting.

Went to FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention this past weekend (on tickets we purchased nearly two years ago). Sure we wandered down to glance at the celebrities, and the kids got attention dressed as Boba Fett and Din Djarin, & got pics with any Mandalorian cosplay we saw. But what did we really check out? Books. Local authors and more, we couldn't pass them by. And long as my backlog is, I've gotta jump into this one.

I really was just taking a short break... they are short, but though they vary, some pack a lot of intensity in that tiny package! And then I misplaced it, because that's what we do here. Eventually found it right back on the shelf where it belongs, so I'll get back to it sometime.

Really enjoying all the different points of view. Only slow going because it's the sort of book I pick up briefly between books, and the library wants it back for a time. Tempted to buy it, but am so tired of moving books.

Wait, I thought I kept track of the page I was on? I really need to get this book from the library again soon, this time the actual book, not Kindle. Too many illustrations and randomness to really get the full experience in black and white. Fascinating read so far though (wherever it is that I am). Don't let my loligagging (and so many other things I want to read) convince you otherwise.

Under 1000 words means the really good stories can be quite intense. Short fast reads, best taken in small bites!

This book has ventured into how statisticians can determine an individual's precise demographic based on their buying habits. I'm in heaven.

I do prefer real (physical) books, but they are definitely not as handy to grab anywhere with busy kids. Library wants this one back, so pause time.

The problem with my husband recommending a book he just finished that he has checked out from the library is sometimes they want it back without a renewal. Looks like I'll be waiting to finish this one.
