A necessary re-read after visiting Whitney Plantation a few months ago

Marking this as currently reading not because I am actually committed to reading this but just to say that the audiobook narrator’s midwestern accent he’s doing for Kip is so bad. It sounds like he’s actively doing chubby bunny. When he is using his regular voice it’s fine but this man was not made for this accent

All I have heard is positive reviews of this book but somehow I am still blown away with how much I love this

I am low-key shocked to be saying this but I do understand the appeal of Mr Rochester

It’s always impressive when an author manages to so perfectly write such a hatable character

Based on the child abuse in the opening this is way sadder than I thought it was going to be

The characterization is bad but the story is interesting

There are already things in this that are bothering me so we’ll see how this goes
