I have been trying to read this since the beginning of the year but struggling to get past the first section. It is very long and dense! Now I am determined to finish it over the next month. I started it again last night and found the receipt from the bookshop, bought Jan 15. Let's see if I can get it read by Jan 15 2026!

I went to find Frankenstein at the library (about to watch the Guillermo Del Toro film) but they only had this book which I did not know anything about. The history of it is fascinating, though. Her father suppressed its publication so it was unpublished for 140 years.

I am two thirds of the way through, just finished the part that ends with the POWs being released. Whew, needed to take a breath. There was some very intense writing about the privations and cruelty of the camp. I cannot stop thinking about it right now but it so compelling that I want to get the rest of the book read tonight but will leave it until tomorrow.

I'm afraid I've had to give up on The Plague.Camus is a great writer and the book has some wonderful moments about humanity, but I am in a place at the moment where I just cannot read anything about death.

Up to Sloosha's Crossing and Ev'rything afterwards. I was coping with the changing narrators and settings up until this point. However, I will persist.
