The 1985 soundbites are the same as 2013 soundbites.. If school reform / deform or common core interests you, this book is a must read.

The bit on robot pets was fascinating... wish I had read this years before we did a system upgrade and a database issue messed with 2377 virtual pets. Some folks do take such very seriously.... Its a lot more than a few digital bits here or there.

So far the book is pretty rambling, and lacking in the technical and scientific rigor I had expected. Alas the content itself does rock, so overall I am pleased with it.

I general lean pretty far to the left, but this book makes me feel like a right wing extremist. Granted, I'm not involved with K12, nor have I ever been in a union, so my perspectives will likely be different than those who are. That being said, the book is quite fascinating, especially so the historical aspects. When I finish this off, I'll provide a detailed review.
