Wendy is 60% done with Umma: A Korean Mom's Kitchen Wisdom and 100 Family Recipes
This is an amazing “cook” book! More of an educational as well as a relationship story between Umma (mother) and her chef daughter.

Wendy is 35% done with When Ghosts Come Home
So far I’m intrigued by the setting of Eastern NC, which is where I live, an how accurate Cash is at describing the feel of that part of the state in the late 70s- 80s and the slow progressive changes taking place in the cities. He is quite accurate as to the unchanging ultra conservatism of Eastern NC, especially east of I-95.

The other aspect of the book drawing me in is the father-daughter relationship.

DNF. I usually really like Lisa Scottaline books but half way through this one I just lost interest. I will revisit this one later.

I enjoyed the time line POVs as well as the historical importance of the story of Poland during WWII. The family mystery ( present POV) is one, I think, of the sad realities many of face by not getting enough of our parents and elders personal histories.

Wendy is finished with The Ballad of Tom Dooley (Ballad, #9)
Perhaps if I had read Weathering Heights I might have appreciated the story more. I was a bit offended that the author called-out "superficial" readers for not making the connection, in the last part of the book.

I found this to be an interesting story but the POV's seemed forced. The Vance sections were often repetitive but interesting since Zebulon Vance is a well-known figure in N.C.

This is taking forever to get through. I almost forget about it. The most interesting part is the part of Bach, the assassin. The dialogue of the President is boring and feels a bit insecure. Way too much "telling". The conversations between the most powerful people in the world seem to be unrealistic as they over explain and draw out everything. These people would be smarter than this. The premise is great so...
