Took much too long to get to a point where I’m finally starting to care. The previous chapters were just waffling about with not much to pique my interest. Hope it gets better from here.

Story’s finally flowing for me but at this point, I’m not sure if I’ll be interested in reading the sequel(s).

Still pressing on, though I’ve wanted to to give up two or three times already. The writing style is rather stilted, which has made it somewhat boring to read despite the imaginative setting.

Somehow, I’m enjoying this book a lot more now with my reread than I did the first time round. Makes it all the more worth the effort and I’m already excited to finally read the sequels.

Listening to the audiobook sounds like coming home. No wonder, TRC’s probably the only book I’ve come to read a fourth time. Haha.

I’ve had a couple of mentors tell me not to bother reading the newspaper because it’s mostly irrelevant to daily life and detracts from spending time on things that do matter — such as working towards achieving my goals and making a difference where I actually can. Reading a book in that perspective with expanded arguments against the news confirms even more for me that they were on to something.

Feels like I haven’t picked up a novel in forever, so I’m pretty stoked I’m getting back into this reading business with a new Ness book!

This introduction to philosophy is so brief it nearly borders on name dropping. Pretty neat as a refresher, I suppose, but not quite as engaging for someone new to it all. Has brought up some nostalgia for my uni days though. Hah. And the cartoons are pretty clever at least.

At this point, I don't see myself giving myself more than 2 stars by the time I'm done, and even that's very generous, given how much joy for reading this book's sucked out of me.

Such a shame how little this book’s engaging me ‘cause I really enjoyed Christo’s debut novel To Kill a Kingdom.

Love the quietness about this book that still manages to bring out the magnitude of complicated feelings tinged with grief that Marin and Mabel are grappling with.

I’m so bored out of my mind, I could cry. I absolutely hate the prose.

The second third was a great deal more engaging than the third. I hope the last third will bring more clarity as well.

I think I’ll end up liking King if Scars but it’s still taken too long for me to start feeling invested in anything that’s happening. As for this being a book about Nikolai, at this point, I can’t tell yet if that’s truly going to be the case.

Bittersweet — makes you think about the cost of happiness vs misery.

Who knew a book set at a retirement home would make me smile so hard? These characters are so precious.

The mayhem has begun.

Never knew I needed a book about missed connections until now. I hope this one lives up to the hype!

It’s starting to make sense why there are 5 POVs but I still think that’s spreading the narrative thin for each individual character across the book.

There are way too many points of view. I mean, five first person perspectives? Is this really necessary? Not sure if even an epic meet-up of all these characters would redeem this narrative choice for me.

Not really into rap, so I wasn’t sure if I’d be into this story. Needn’t have worried though. Angie’s clearly delivering with her sophomore book.

Been taking lots of notes. Actually looking forward to implementing a lot of these ideas and then some.

Not as elaborate as I had expected from a Sanderson book but still a fun premise.
