It's taking me longer to re-read this classic than I expected. I'm having to work around the patriarchal language and the author's subconscious assumption that his audience consisted of straight white middle-class men. Some of the ideas are archaic, but in general, his theology is sound and his real life examples, though antiquated and very English, make the concepts easier to grasp.

I've finished all of Anne's and Emily's and am at the brink of starting Charlotte's collection! Taking a break before starting the first one in the volume, Shirley.

Half way through - finished Part One last night and it kept me awake half the night. I will state that the reason it kept me up was because I was compelled to look up these characters, two of whom are actually based on real people and the third is based on but renamed. Let me just say: Ravensbruck experiments. Don't look it up right before bed. Or meals.
