ohhh how I wish I was enjoying this. there's glimmers of diamonds (stark daughters, the hound, jagen, brienne) but they don't shine very brightly buried between grrm's piles of masturbatory sewage. I'm unintentionally keeping a mental checklist of fetishes present in this story at this point

being forced to read this for book club. honestly if grrm could manage to write without having to insert his fetishy, masturbatory blurbs throughout, this book would be tolerable

god these books are dog ass

my grandma introduced me to this series at age 13 and I thought I'd reread some of it while I'm stuck at home recovering after major surgery. it is bad. better written than modern contemporary romance, but still bad.

book club book otherwise I never would've chosen to read it and holy shit this author fucking hates women

I keep waiting for this to be more enlightening and less frustrating and it's just not. I get that this was written 20 years ago but the sexist biases favoring men here are so obnoxiousssss

so far the author seems pretty chill about men cheating on their wives and I'm not too pleased about it

nvm the author pulled some ACOTAR faerie king shit so now I don't even want to finish the book anymore 🥱

it took 100 pages to become mildly interesting but maybe we're getting somewhere
