every time this guy uses the term “aspie” i feel myself get more evil

american narrator has only ever heard an english accent from giles from buffy and applies it to teenage girl character. book is fine but narration is so off-putting, guy reads it like he’s reading a fantasy novel for children, not a young adult thriller.

listening to the audiobook but there’s no option for that here. the narration is so off putting i don’t know that i can get thought five more hours of it.

i don’t know why i decided to read this when i hated the only other book ive read by this author. self harm maybe.

so… these people keep their kid inside for 18 years so she doesn’t get hurt or sick… for 18 years make her wear gloves at all times so she doesn’t scratch herself… and they’re still going out, and accepting packages at the door in person by ups? these adults have never gotten a germ from being outside or using pens from the cps driver? and never passed it on to the kids they have unmasked contact with? ok

don’t read this if you are autistic or think you may be. it’s making me feel really bad about myself and undoing a lot of therapy work lol. the descriptions of emotional immaturity sometimes describe autistic people and conflating the two is pretty damaging!

character clarifies with person with dissociative identity disorder which person she’s speaking with then proceeds to call them by the wrong identity. also assumes as they have did that they’re capable of murder. judging this person while having her own mental break and actively being rude and breaking the laid an interesting choice.

they let her out of a psych hold while she was actually literally having conversations with three hallucinations… and she’s so rude and entitled that the more these hallucinations tell her the wrong twin died the more i believe it.
