It's set itself up pretty well so far. As is expected of King, great character building ensues from the first page. Mysterious and thoughtful.

This book, the tale of a young man's failed journeys through various continents to try and find love and happiness .etc, is basically what would happen if a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers suddenly doubled their IQ and dropped their addiction or whatever and decided to write a book. An interesting travel story. Just like Scar Tissue or whatever. And with me liking the 90s alt scene that works out well.

Great.
A direct follow up to the colour of magic, it serves as a Segway into the rest of the rincewind series, that goes into death which after book #3 goes to the witches...

The Discworld reading order is strange. I've just settled on reading it chronologically. This is a direct improvement from TCOM, which is great. The comedy makes sense, it's readable but also humane, in Pratchett's almost suave absurdism.

Strange.
So far, I've been introduced to a kid who runs away from home, a group of Japanese kids who fall unconscious on a school outing, and an old guy who can't read or write but CAN talk to cats. Strange stuff.

I saw this great TED-ed video detailing "Why I should read Kafka on the shore".

On the basis that the guy narrating had a nice voice, I decided to try it. Strange stuff.

I've sort of lost track of what page I'm on, cos I've read this part e-book (it's in the pub domain) and part physical book. It's still fun though, and graphic for a book of its time.

Interesting!
Right, so even 20 pages into this novella, it's created a nice plot, developed quickly yet still built some solid characters and atmosphere.
I'm personally exceptionally (and fondly) familiar with the Jeff Wayne music thing inspired by this book, and already there's been a bunch scenes and quotes that I remembered from that. For its time, it's also very accurate in it's scientific descriptions of Mars.

Okay. So I'm just over half way through this one. Murakami creates a nice atmosphere, creates some engaging characters in a cool setting. I dont have any critiques so far, except for the sheer abundance of s̶e̶x̶ intensely romantic scenes. Its not that i hate them in books occasionally, but theres been a lot so far. Also they're pretty graphic. But overall, pretty good.

MORE DINOSAURS.
After having the ending unexpectedly spoiled for me by a clue in Only Connect (curse ye Victoria), I see little point in continuing. But imma continue anyway.

LOGIC, PEOPLE!
