the amount of respect i have daniel handler is out of this world. the fact that he wrote approachable, deep, fun, funny, educational, intriguing literature for kids, without dumbing anything down or sugarcoating anything. kids deserve good literature and daniel handler understands that and gives that to them.

for a feminist novel this book sure does have a lot of fun by putting down other women in order to build up the mc

crazy that this book (LOUDLY) calls itself feminist, but is participating in a healthy hand of misogyny. i'm really not going to write it off yet, because I actually do have hope that it will show itself as a brilliant satire, and even if it doesn't, it will be fun to boo at

so... here's the deal. the whole "he's definitely a murderer, i know bc i listen to true crime" thing would work if he WASN'T a killer. and sure, it will probably be a twist that "he's not a killer at all!! it was all a big misunderstanding" which will be incredibly predictable, or it will be "he's not a killer! she is!" and that will be less predictable but maybe more trite and if ur wondering why im reading this...
