As I keep reading, the idea becomes more firmly cemented in my head that he uses superfluous language. Idk if that’s a sign of the times, the fault of the translation, or whether or not it’s intentional by Dostoyevsky, but the main guy loves using big unnecessary words and repeating
himself often times using phrases that are pleonastic.

Nastenka is right, what an introduction. I’ll admit he does have a way with words. Flowery and pretty and nice to hold onto, which kinda makes me cautious. Sweet talkers, imho, need to be taken with caution.

What does it mean to assume a “pedantically serious pose?” What does that even look like?*scratches head

Starting this book again for the Galactic readathon. Last time I was on page 9, and then stopped reading for 4 years. I can’t believe 2019 was that long ago. 😭 I will be glad when I get this book off my reading list. I remember liking the Netflix show (season 1) and that’s what prompted me to buy the first two books.

SN: in hindsight, im wondering if they made the right choice picking this as my first read.

I’m only 5 pages in, but I’m starting to see why people think the fmc is autistic.

I don’t know if I’m going to enjoy reading this book.

Dnf from here, it’s a struggle to get through this book. So disappointing because I loved reading the Gallagher girls and heist society when I was younger. This adult book is kind of a let down from her.

I will return to this book eventually, but for now I’m dnf’ing it.

I forgot how much I enjoyed Julia Quinn’s writing. Such a refreshing change to the other book I recently dnf’d.
