This book just sounds so strange. So here I go, reading it.

When detective Mia Hart returns 15 years later to St. Lucy’s a small island off the coast of Maine
where one terrifying night she lost two of her friends to supposed suicide, she is now investigating a new murder. Quickly the two events become entangled into a mystery which kept me guessing to the end.
Read for Senior Bookworm Club.
3.5 stars

This one has been in my TBR stack for some time and now it’s in the final voting for GoodReads choice of best book of 2023. Seems like a good time to get it read.

Group read with mom, sisters, daughter, niece, and granddaughter.My sister and niece live near Louisa May Alcott’s family home in Lexington Massachusetts.

I’ve never read Anne Rice before but I’m reading this as an Oct /Nov selection in my Southern Literary group, as she is a Southern writer.It seems like a good Halloween choice, and I hope it’s good because it’s a whopping 1200 pages.

“ Gothic tale of love and madness.”
“ Atmospheric and chilling.”
Sounds like it’s my Halloween read.

October - Nostalgic Reads group.

A good short story by Wendell Berry an author of many books which I have enjoyed. He writes of a simpler time which is often what I long for.

Reading this biography and NYT Bestseller (2011) about Lady Almina who occupied Highclere Castle as the 5 th Countess of Carnarvon after whom Lady Cora Crawley’s character on Downton Abbey was based.
To accompany my current afternoon binge watching sessions of Downton Abbey, while its 99 degrees outside everyday this week.

Planning on listening to this audiobook on our drive soon to the PNW to see our kids and grandkids after way too long. I’ve heard it’s the best way to enjoy the book as it contains some of her music as well.

I’m excited to read this circa 1970’s bestselling 5 volume The Dark Is Rising series remotely with my 13 year old grandson. I hope it’s as good as I recall!

Instead of the Sci- fi I expected since its main concept is that people in this society can have their own or others memories erased and bound by “ binders” who compose them into books and lock them away, it is written more as historical fiction with a bit of magic. It’s very creative, original, and thought provoking !!

Granny’s (me) Bookclub. Let’s read kids.

When I suggested maybe we read something new, I was overwhelmingly vetoed by my Grandkids who are really loving our shared reading of this anthropological owl series which is suggested for fans of Percy Jackson and Harry Potter.

After book 4 we remotely watched the movie based on the series which is Legend of The Guardians. It was fun to watch (especially in 3D )
but the storyline is far different.

Remotely reading books 1-3 of this series with the grandkids over age 10 then watching the movie Legends of the Guardians together online.
This is our fourth read and it’s been a fun way to connect over the miles.
