Excellent story of the mysterious Count Dracula, as perceived by multiple characters. Told from the letters and journals of lords, ladies, doctors, and scientists, each entry works through a maze of misunderstandings and confusion while the reader watches from above. I’ve seen many vampire movies and know the lore of Dracula, but Stoker’s original novel adds much more depth to the story. Absolutely worth reading

So far, I’ve only read the first story in the book, but it was so beautifully written and heartfelt, I’m anxious to read more. I’m usually reading 1920-1960s horror or cryptozoology books, but my wife handed this to me this morning, and it took me away to another time in American history. I’m excited to read this (while I’m also currently reading Dracula).

My first Abercrombie book, and it’s pretty good. Intimately, like many popular fantasy/science fiction/genre author’s books, The Red Country lacks much depth, trading humor for clever dialogue and development. Still a good read…

This is an excellent read. I’ll be honest, other than authors like Dan Simmons, Christopher Priest and Iain M. Banks, I’m not a fan of “modern” fiction, and find a lot of the popular authors to be overrated. The writing is often too cliched and the stories too predictable. Unfortunately, this goes double for Christian fiction.
The book is excellent so far, and the characters engaging. Great read!
