I am genuinely really enjoying this on its own but unfortunately every time a book features a snarky butch (especially a snarky butch knight) I just miss my blorbo/wife about it (gideon my beloved)

the early modernist in me is geeking about the visards and the clearly elizabethan imagery used for the queen … the use of elizabeth’s brand of whiteness as a status symbol… the use of darkness to signify silence and intimidation… i’m bouncing off the walls

just remembered this was a horror book because I was just, indeed, horrified

this is literally a christmas book

(xi) i’m maybe the only person to ever read this book and geek about the discussions of historical racecraft against the goths but here I am (I mean i’m already in the 1% of people who read extratextual content cuz I appreciate the editing)

hellevir is 20% lesbianism, 80% martyr complex, and 100% absolute dumbassery

unbelievably obsessed with this introduction, I think all books should start with an authors note that says essentially: “I worked really hard on this and put a lot of thought into this and if you come into MY book being a judgmental know-it-all to critique something you don’t even know the first thing about, i’ll grab a rusty pole and shove it where the sun don’t shine. everyone else, love u xoxo”

starting this in honor of my favorite bride, bailey @greekchoir, who has been harassing me to read this for ages (and based on the first few pages, rightfully so)

…oh my god. grimdark indeed. I- words cannot describe and emojis are way too unserious for this.

and out of all the references this book so far has had… the one i was least expecting… a warriors cats reference.

going through this at a snail's pace because I am in deadline hell (and am burnt out from JUST surviving another deadline hell) but inching through this is truly the highlight of my days, we are SO back with this! hoping the second half is as strong as (or even better than) the first half!

t minus 2.5 days until my dissertation is due and my physical stress symptoms are back with a vengeance so I am just barely inching through this comfort read to get me through

this book is literally balm for the soul, it's magic

grad school is ending in the next few months and facing down my dissertation and post-post-grad career is feeling a bit like facing down a dragon so it's time for a routine comfort read

everyone is saying this is a drarry book but i'm cracking up because it so clearly haruhi and tamaki. the kids today don't know but I DO. page powers im obsessed with your brand of writing thinly-veiled ouran fic. kiss kiss fall in love indeed.
