Aaaah this is so much better than Bill Bryson's a brief history of nearly everything. That book was more like a compilation of lives of British scientists.

This book has been in my currently reading since weeks and I didn't even finish this because I got distracted by other books😑🤦
I was on page 80 or smthing but I'll just start reading this from the beginning

I can’t believe my aunts’ rivalry with each other is jeopardizing us getting away with murder.

“Odasaku…,” Dazai said softly. “Forgive me for the
absurd wording, but—don’t go. Find something to rely on.
Expect good things to happen from here on out. There’s
gotta be something…Hey, Odasaku, do you know why I
joined the Mafia?”
I stared at him. We had known each other for a long
time, but he’d never even attempted to talk about that.

“Where are we going now?”
“To meet someone.” Dazai smiled. “Anyway, I feel for
you, Odasaku. Not only did you run into the enemy’s boss,
but he made some serious advances toward you, too. At this
rate, you guys will be married by the weekend.”
“That’s not what happened.” At least, I hoped not.
“They’re just a group of weirdos who start wars for the
sake of it.”

Because one of us died soon after.

Whenever I read this sentence that scene of season 2 automatically replays in my head.

Nobody could understand Dazai. Even if he appeared to be close by, he
was millions of light years away

glared at Akutagawa. “So don’t get in my way. I have to defeat him.”
“You—!”
“Hey, c’mon,” Gab chimed in, sounding fed up. “Why do I gotta be the
third wheel? Are you friends or something? You guys seem to get along quite
well.”
