Moving to the countryside, as an outsider, and unironically condemning everyone who moves to said countryside after you: snobs, superficial, ugly, servants.

Whenever I think I've made it past this kind of leering meanness, I'm hit with more; the author seems to present these as neutral observations, akin to those of the landscape.
