I am GOING THROUGH SOMETHING reading this book. It's somehow compulsively readable despite the fact that I fervently hate it. I don't know if I really want to see how it resolves, or if I just desperately need it to be over. I haven't unclenched my jaw the entire time I've been reading.

Holy geez this is an uncomfortable book to read.

A friend who visited left it behind, so naturally I'm gonna read it!

I'm not usually a big diary reader, but this one is gorgeously written. The combination of gardening, discussion of the author's life in movie-making, and his experience as a gay man with AIDS in the 1990s makes for a read that's both sad and beautiful. A book to savor, not fly through.
