Several people have very enthusiastically recommended this book to me. Maybe it's just the times, but I'm having a hard time suspending my disbelief enough to think a billionaire man adopting seven girls and raising them on his own private island is not....suspicious. Especially when the author says things like "Pa used to call us his golden apples. Ripe and perfectly rounded, just waiting to be plucked." Yikes.
