I recently read "Riders of the Purple Sage" by Zane Grey. I hardly ever read a western novel but I recently came across a reference to this classic and decided it was time to read it. That turned out to be a good decision. The only other western writer I've read is Louis L'Amour and I love his work. Zane Grey's work turned out to be more 'romantic' and 'flowery' to me but was still a great read.
