I am inviting Leila Mottley to Jamaica for my mother to cook her oxtail and cow foot with gungo rice and peas. So my father can tell her stories about what he’s built across Jamaica. I am inviting Leila to be part of my family. This is so well done. The narrator was perfect. The storyline! Girl I had no clue what was happening at all at any time. The characters are perfectly written.

"...he blamed racial inequality in the United States on the breakdown of the 'black family'. When it was brought to his attention that this was a racist claim that blamed the victims of structural inequality for suffering in a system designed to oppress them, he leaned on classic white tactics to defend himself; he cried, and then claimed he couldn't be racist because his mother once had a black boyfriend ".

Excerpt: "Yes now! Spanish Town!"...It is the chorus Jamaican children sing whenever trouble is coming -Spanish Town being where the gallows were. They do not always know the meaning of the song. They do not know about the gallows. And yet they sing it, "Yes now!Spanish Town!"
