Slow moving, the climax of the story (Dara’s disappearance) doesn’t happen for over 100 pages. At my point in the novel, it is the morning (like 1 AM) after Dara’s birthday (the day she disappeared) and Nick is at the police station trying to tie her sister to a local disappearance of a 9 year old from only a few weeks prior.

I’m not far but this is a small book so I’m sure
I’ll finish it soon. The main character is confusing, as we have not been given much background information on him yet.

Honestly, I was put off originally because the first chapter is hard to follow. The next few chapters were jumping between 2000 and 2018, but each chapter is really short & slowly you begin to put together a blurry image- of a train, blue children, landlords and tenants, two rookie cops & one retired-alcoholic/non-alcoholic cop, the whole cast of strange characters. Everything is coming together slowly & I'm excited.

I think this book is hilarious. The author uses true tales to tell a series of funny stories and teach life lessons. It’s so great, so far.
