I gave up on it because it was boring. I'm about 30% into it, and so far it's just been a boring chronicle of daily life at the Sun King's court in Versailles. A boring introduction to the protagonist, her equally boring friends, and her obnoxious father. I desperately wanted to keep reading, but the story is dull, the protagonist insipid, and the supporting characters uninteresting.
What a disappointment!

I've found a new author to read. So far it's a 5 star historical adventure mystery

An action-packed mystery, with chases, fights, and even naval battles, all beautifully written. I'm really enjoying it!😃

I'm liking it, it's a good story, but it's a difficult read: too many charaters and too many digressions... it's confusing.

By the author's own admission, the narrator digresses quite often and the book could probably have been half as long as it is, but I have to admit that so far I like the characters and the story promises to be captivating.

Hmmm... I don't know if it's just me being bored by everything or if this December I've been particularly unlucky in finding truly captivating Christmas reads.

I really can't stand the female character and there's no intetesting story, it's all about kissing from the start to 60 % through the book. They probably will make sex soon... really how boring.
I feel like I'm wasting my time in reading it.

Nice yes, but so far not particularly exciting...

So far nothing remarkable. Let's see if the next half of the book changes anything (the book is unnecessarily long because everything is too bland and flat. I like the couple, but... there is no pathos in this story).
