So far this is very different to any sci-fi I have read before. Mainly the fact that there is less focus on the technology (e.g. hard or bio) and interstellar travel (machines and physics), with much more focus on things like inner looking, self-control, strategy, survival, self-control and the human psyche in general.

I have been reading this at a very slow pace. It isa s insightful as I expected, but it also uses fat specialist words that make me go slow.

I realized it was a particular character ruining it for me. This is actually not bad. Final update coming soon...
