So I have just started this book, partially because I just got off a Viking. All Viking ocean ships are the same so it’s hard to trust the author when he gets basic details wrong from the beginning. The Explorer’s Lounge is not on Deck 11, it’s on Deck 8 & 9. Success Cake is not served in the morning, it is only served between 4 and 5. Just find myself wondering what else he fudged or failed to verify?

This book is the opposite of Hyperborea, which I just finished earlier today, and yet it explores some of the same themes.

Just started it and I was not sure what to expect, but so far it is really good.

The “glass art mystery” aspect of this is interesting but so far I hate the two main characters. It’s a mystery and a “will they or won’t they enemies to lovers” plot line and they both are stubborn in uninteresting ways. But I will finish it as long as it does not get too much worse.

Ugh. This book is super annoying. Everyone talks about how great Abby is and how absent Amanda is, but Abby is so emotional and angry it is tough to read about her snap judgments and outbursts.

It is not that I am disliking this book, it is just that I really enjoyed the author’s World Cup podcast and the audiobook is read by a different person. So it’s this odd situation where I can hear his voice in many phrases but the inflection is completely different. As a result I have to listen in shorter spurts and the enjoyment is dimmed overall.

The annoying part is getting … a little better? Maybe?

Very very annoying start … we have met the FMC and she was okay until her dialogue started consisting of saying the name of the MMC over and over again without any context at all. Have I mentioned it is annoying? Because I could repeat that five more times and possibly reach low double digits on the number of times this book insists on saying the full name of someone the reader has not met yet.
