it's great to be back in this universe again

"You expect heroes to survive terrible things. If you give them a medal, then you don't ever have to ask why the terrible thing happened in the first place. Or try to fix it." damn that feels especially relevant right now.

this was marketed as adult fantasy, but so far feels more like YA with more swearing. and even the swearing feels like a young person's idea of what adults talk like.

tell me a book from this year you loved and i'll read it as part of next year's challenge

So far this feels less like a novel and more like a collection of worldbuilding ideas. Very slow paced.

for the first time in a looooong while, my read shelf is bigger than my to-read.

I'm guessing goodreads recently reworked their algorithm because for the last week or so I've had waaay more book recommendations than usual, but a lot of them are... not good.

the use of 'muck' as a swearword looks silly and is kind of grating. if your characters are going to swear, have them swear properly, don't half-arse it

There's something oddly satisfying about clearing out books in your Want to Read shelf.

honestly the romance drama is getting annoying. isn't there enough story conflict with the threat of an army of darkness monsters? why do we need mal and alina miscommunication yet again? why the constant 'chemistry' between a literal teenager and a centuries-old evil asshole?

The chapter on recomposting was really fascinating.

Not a lot happening so far, and it doesn't feel as magical as the original series did.
