This novel has a weird vibe; in terms of erratic (or: mentally unwell) behavior of the narrator this has echoes of unhinged girl literature, but its writing style is romance/comedy-esque. Yet to find out if I like it

bored and uninspired I saw this on my Storytel, I’ve heard stories about her being toxic and it’s already present in her “if I had been in that position I wouldn’t have…” felt annoyed she claimed the moral high ground. Yet some of the things she describes are vulnerable, funny, intensely traumatic and makes me intrigued for the rest

I’ll need to switch to reading this because I found out the translation notes (or: metafiction which apparently contains critical aspects of the novel’s colonial critiques) are not part of the audiobook. For now it’s mostly an enumeration of Taiwanese dishes with an occasional interesting interaction or observation put in - nothing that captivates me yet
