This book absolutely did not earn the right to be as ridiculous as it is. You have to choose one combo: boring but believable OR really fun but absurd.

Great premise. Clumsy execution. There is no nuance here, and the men are caricatures.

Yesyesyesyes THIS is the book I’ve been waiting for since The White Road. It’s the book I wanted Ararat and several other mountain horror novels that have come out lately. None hit the spot. This one is STABBING the spot.

Hmm. I’m not far in yet, so I’m not sure if we’re supposed to feel for the child yet, but if so, having her immediately kill a dog is probably not the best way to achieve that.

Listening to Neil Gaiman narrate his own work is an absolute delight every time.

This is one of the books I re-read every few years to torture myself because they’re so heartbreaking but so lovely.

It's amazing and depressing how this book gets more telepathy every time I read it.

Loved this! Has its sloppy moments but brought something new to the tropes it relies on, and I actually liked more than one character!

A smidge too on the nose for me, but I really liked it. If you love animals and apocalypses and monsters, you should read this.

The single solitary good thing about 2020

I don’t know if I can handle this whole thing as an audiobook. This narrator for Annie sounds like a grouchy small-town grandmother, not a rich woman in her late twenties or early thirties from New York.
