Loved this memoir of growing up on the west coast of Australia.

What an outstanding book.
As a crazy banksia lover this is a book that warms my heart as banksias are held aloft in all their dazzling glory in these pages.
Detailed descriptions, history, exquisite photos, sketches and charts - this book has it all.
Thank you Kevin and Kathy Collins and Alex George for this outstanding work.

Calls a spade a spade and doesn't sugar-coat anything.
Refreshingly honest and down-to-earth.
I listened to his own narration of the book and enjoyed it all and learnt a lot about addiction.

This was unique, unusual, fanciful, but surprisingly believable.
It was a quick read and I was compelled to keep reading.

An intriguing read! Even though I could see where this was going early on (well, mostly), I still wanted to know exactly how things panned out.

A bit of a page turner!

Just read the chapter on the importance of questioning. I continue to love this book and the impact it is having on my teaching of mathematics .

Just read the two chapters on reasoning as we are focusing on this proficiency Sem 1. Already implementing some great ideas including Choral Counting.

Reading this in chunks between novels...

Oh...have to read this in fits and starts...the violence and depravity is full on.

I am reading this slowly, really absorbing these incredible, poignant fundamentals of maths. I am trialling things in my maths classrooms as I go and feel that my teaching of Mathematics has never been better...most due to this book and other programs and dispositions I have recently come in contact with.
Bottom line? I am enjoying teaching maths so much more...so the kids I teach are set up to love it too.

Enjoying this memoir..especially her school days...being a teacher and all....

Emotionally, this is a hard read. I am having to put it down and breathe inbetween bombardments of desperation, hopelessness, guilt that this is my country treating people so abhorrently....just full on.

Blah blah blah...boring. I couldn't finish it. My time was too precious.

Enjoying this...the way he reminisces about his love for Susan, despite everyone's negativity.

So intensely sad and grim. It was too sad and too grim for me right now. I felt burdened with this tragedy. So to feel this after reading this book I acknowledge and respect the quality of writing.
I much prefered Narrow Road to the Deep North.

Only read chapter one so far and am hooked.....Shadow is an intriguing guy.

A good read. It is probably more a 4 star book, but I had trouble getting into it, due to life circumstances more than the book itself.

I love the way it unfolded and layers of the truth appeared. Many layers of relationships between man-woman, mother-child, wife-husband, sister-sister and the complex past of one of the main characters was enticing.
