I haven't yet gotten past the foreword, but It is worth reading to put the book into context. Amazon currently has a documentary of Wharton, that I found interesting, because it gave me a sense of her particular genius.

I find it interesting that her popular success began with this book.

I am listening to this in the afternoons during the pandemic. (Remember the Pandemic?) Hanks has a great reading voice, and his stories are making me nostalgic. He ties in a typewriter as a motif, and I remember the typewriter and the excitement of it in his descriptions. He also has an eye and ear for detail which send me to different eras.

Marion Irwin is finished with Lafayette in the Somewhat United States
Loved the story, and it was audio book. I do not love Sarah Vowell's voice. She's a great story teller, and Lafayette's history was largely unknown to me, although it dovetailed well with "Hamilton" which I have read, previously.
