Imagine dedicating yourself to becoming hard-nosed and independent and never getting taken advantage of ever again and then immediately smoking opium with the first rich man you meet.

I'm sick and so currently my brain is too dead for the deep worldbuilding and vocabulary of Amina Al-Sirafi--this is definitely clever but easily readable which is my favorite kind of mid-cold book, save apparently intensely dark existential horror.

I have had about enough of these motherfuckers saying "don't you make me--" like everything they do isn't their own evil bullshit choices.
