Reminds me a little of Maze Runner and Lord of the Flies. Very well written. Great descriptions of characters and places. The hierarchy of colors is fascinating. Darrow is a fascinating character. Excited to finish. Is a movie coming?

Totally wild and imaginative plot that keeps getting better. Wow! The vampires are terrifying, and that thing in the lab is going to get out and kill everyone. I just know it. Major Khuz needs to send an army of tanks and jets through the Gate to wipe out the vampire threat.

Yikes!!
"Before his eyes the skin of the baby's brow puffed up in twin mounds, like huge boils accelerated to instantaneous eruption. The fine skin split and blunt goat horns came through, curving as they emerged. Yulian's jaws elongated into a dog's muzzle which cracked open to reveal a red cave of white knives and a viper's flickering tongue. It's eyes, pits of sulphur, burned on the vicar's face like fire."

AMAZING! Really enjoying the wonderfully crafted characters. I saw these books as a kid and the covers scared me. But I've always known I'd read them. And that time is now. I appreciate that Lumley takes his time building this world. He doesn't rush to tell his story, but carefully and expertly weaves his tale so that I'm constantly on the edge of my seat. I now understand why these books have a worldwide following.

Been a fan of Tad Williams since 2000. I gave a sarcastic eye roll when I learned Tad was writing this series. Angels, demons, heaven, and hell are SOOO overdone in fiction these days. I know because I write the same thing. :) But Tad's a storytelling master. So far the book is good. Sarcastic hero, 1st person POV, great description of heaven, and a cool scene showing the fight for a woman's soul. Promising so far!

Surprisingly, the story is moving very slowly. The author is great at building characters, and world-building, but the story itself is just plodding along with almost nothing happening. I can't believe I'm on chapter 14 and so little has happened. I'll keep reading, but I expected far more from the combined talents of Dekker/Lee.

These books are connected to The Circle trilogy??? Didn't see that coming. Lots of virus' in Dekker's books. Not sure how I feel about another virus. Excited to keep reading.

Finished the first two chapters. Mind = blown. The book raises questions I've never considered. Loved the stories about the Connectors. I'm definitely not one but wish I was.

Excellent opening to the book. Very engaging characters and plot. Darker than I expected, which I like. Too much Christian fiction is too safe and tame. Glad there's an author with the guts to write a strong, dark, powerful novel. Excited to see where the story goes next!

Julian is finished with Lullaby
On chapter 33 and I'm ready for the book to be over. The author introduced a great, highly original premise in chapter 7. However the narrative contains so much random exposition that it kills the story. The characters are good but not quite believable. I have 10 chapters left and I'm hoping the author can finish strong. He's already wasted so many great opportunities with this storyline.

Great prologue that hooks the reader. Then it gets boring. All exposition that I don't care about. Nothing happening but the author's own rambling opinions on culture. We haven't met the hero yet. Nor a villain. Nor anything resembling a plot. The POV is awkward and clunky. Does first-person work for supposed horror? How did this book get published?

I'm enjoying it. Fowler is talented at world-building, and has created quite the cast of intriguing characters. I especially like his portrayal of the angels and demons thus far. I hope he closes the loop eventually with a message of faith, hope and salvation. Starting chapter 4 now.
