I wish I had more time for this book. I've been reading it on my phone in bits and pieces and I think that's done it a disservice. It's an interesting story and I don't really know where it's going but I'm mildly invested in the characters. I'll keep renewing my library loan on this until I finish, or I can't anymore.

I like this more than I’d thought I would.

1) This is wrapping up with 100 pages still left to go and
2) It’s getting kind of absurd, in a not great way.

Here's the thing: It's a good book. It's relatable. Who doesn't know a letter-writing old person? BUT... and I've been told this is a little bit cleared up in the audio version... there are so many characters that I have had trouble keeping track, and even made a list to help me. #old. It should be an easy, quick read, but for me, nope. So I have 7 days on my library loan to finish before another long wait.

Did you ever have to do a book report in grade school, and needed to pick a biography even though you were a fiction reader, so you picked up something that bent the rules a bit, like the story of a racehorse? And you still thought it was boring?

No? Just me?

I’m not in grade school anymore (ha!) but this sports tale about the Triple Crown winner could tick those boxes. The writing is meh. Soldiering on.

Picked this one back up as an audiobook in an attempt to catch back up. Holy moly, this is SUPERB narration, with so many different voices, complementing Backman's wonderful character studies. I absolutely want to "read" more by this narrator. But of course the story is great, too.

Changing it up a little with some nonfic that’s been hiding on my shelves for years. It’s… ok so far? I know a bit of the background already, though.

Weird, and also… religious?

Weird book.

Can’t put this creepy book down.
