This book might be useful if you believe the slanted picture, where everything is about race or suppression of a minority and nothing more, where all white people are evil because they are white (as if skin color was a choice for anyone).

I continue to read/re-read this book; essential reading for the informed citizen.

Mr. Backman has done it again... what an excellent read!

Had to set this one aside. I found it difficult to read this writing style.

Quit reading about 50%; just not my cup of tea.

Stopped reading this one because it was going too slow, primarily due to the author’s need to expound at length on McGee’s personal philosophy. These stories are intended to be somewhat stand alone, so the author feels the need to include several paragraphs (seems like several pages, on and on and on) about McGee’s view of his life. The stories are great, but this preachy filler is not.

I quit reading this book. I am worn out by the philosophical sermonizing.

Well written story set in WWII from the British perspective. Enjoying this book immensely.

I had to put it down for a while. Excellent writing and story telling, but too sad to continue right now.
