Karen is starting The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream
Reading because our Bookcrossing theme this month is "something political"--I've wanted to read it for a long time so now seems opportune!

Karen is starting Otto of the Silver Hand
I got a copy of this children's literature classic last summer. When I was teaching, many students would do book reviews on it and I thought then that I should read it. I am retired but finally getting around to reading it. LOL

Karen is starting The Handmaid’s Tale (The Handmaid's Tale, #1)
I read this many years ago. Now it has a new introduction by Atwood, and think I will appreciate her foresight even more. Reading for my southern book club.

Karen is starting Knee Knock Rise
I needed a break from the depressing novels on slavery and unchecked Industrialization which I have been reading. This short work is by the author of Newbery Ward winner Tuck, Everlasting--and it won a Newbery Silver. Its bound to be good.

I am reading this in sections--not all at once. I could hardly stand to do that.

While I am reading on the theme of "oppressed" people, I remembered that this book was analyzed on FaceBook as being suited for me to read according to my interests and personality. So, I got it. I don't know if it works along the lines of The Kitchen House or The Help.

Karen is starting The Eagle and the Raven
Having finally, in 2013, made it to San Antonio and The Alamo, I wanted to "come to know" the leading characters in Texas' fight for independence.

Karen is starting How the Scots Invented the Modern World: The True Story of How Western Europe’s Poorest Nation Created our World & Everything in It
I am delving back into this book because it fits a square on my Book Bingo--finish a book that has been on your shelf forever. It hasn't been there as long as the Ben Franklin biography, but one of them has got to go.

Karen is reading The Shrouded Walls
Since this book has two novelettes in it, I can report that I finished the first one, The Shrouded Walls, and have started the second. Both Victorian-era type mysteries, even though set slightly off that period.
