Ngl feeling a little bogged down. Apparently me and Levin both are finding the Russian politics to be pretty confusing. I’ve renewed my loan from the library once now…we’ll see how many times I’ll have to before I’m done! Still a very beautiful book!

No doubt about it. This is the longest book I’ve ever tried to read! Liking it a lot so far!

Eeeeh…it is entertaining but I think I like the hbo show better…

I guess cause fall is coming I wanted to read something spooky! It’s very good so far!

Chapter 10 explores “obligation sex”. It’s been the toughest part of this book so far. Lots of women sharing about their husbands using the bible to justify abuse. Sheila asks Christian authors and leaders to do better with how they teach 1 cor 7:5 and urges them to teach more on consent.

This has been an interesting listen so far! I’m hoping books like this are making a difference in church and how it talks about sex.

Jack stuff! She describes him as her first real love. Because of touring he is gone lots and can’t be supportive during her crises. Their relationship broke down bitterly but Lena was going through so much (drug addiction and infidelity) that it’s not even the most interesting part! It hurts once he starts dating models. It feels to her like the tabloid claims that “he could do so much better” might be true.

In this last chapter Lena wrote about the controversy with her last book and her younger sibling. This broke my heart because I remember hearing about the controversy and people laying into Lena about what she wrote but I never really thought about how this also affected Lena’s little sibling. Lena writes that it basically ruined their relationship for years. She is sorry and her sibling and her are now friends.

It’s just so cringgggeeee…I don’t know if I can listen much longer but I’m gonna try.

Funny and gruesomely descriptive! Great audiobook so far! It’s narrated by Elle Fanning who stars in the show version!

Sometimes more money does mean more problems.

I saw a video talking about Henrietta Lacks but it didn’t go into much detail other than her being the reason we have the HeLa cells. Yesterday I found a book at the library about her. It’s just been very sad. Her childhood reminds me of my granny’s. She was raised by her grandparents from the age 4 with a gaggle of other cousins. She passed away from cervical cancer at 29 after having 5 kids already.

I’m listening to this on audiobook while I clean or workout right now and it’s sooooo fun! I’m still in love with Nat lol!

Just through the intro and first chapter but already learning such cool stuff! I’m particular excited about the chapters on male nutrition and vegetarian/vegan nutrition.
