The book really does well to add detail to the world building shown in the movie.

This is definitely not what I expected, since it was given to me as a sea book full of sailors, etc. But it's very good anyway, and I like the writing a fair amount.

This guy's writing is so easy to digest and appreciate. The anecdote on how Eli got his freckles is oddly touching and makes me like Charlie a lot. And also, holy shit, Eli.

Eli is the sweetest mercenary.

The writing style is a lot more simplistic than expected. Actually, the first person pov was not expected, either. But it's really amusing so far.

So disappointed in this book so far. It's like everything is a one-page drabble of disconnected 'stories', and I constantly have to go through being reintroduced to a setting and the characters every two minutes. It's exasperating at seven in the morning on the train and dissatisfying in a way I can't explain. Some drabbles stop at intro, some start in the middle of action, and some it's just meandering conclusion.

I am waiting for it to get good.

Hahah Tim is such a cutie. Even at the very beginning you can see how he is always deliberating on things. I wonder when his earnestness gets tempered, down the timeline.

The way this writer treats character creation and development sometimes...

This partnership is pretty fun and I find it great to read. But guys, why do you always do this to Jason Todd? Is it not enough that his character is screwed up every other arc, but now he's wearing a capsule on his head.

I don't think I am understanding what this book is about. It's supposed to be an anthology of short stories and tips, but some of the snippets are as short as two sentences, and that can get somewhat jarring.

Aahhhh the writing and the art are so excellent. I wish all comics were drawn like this and then I wouldn't have to get taken aback half the time.

Aaaah Yost is here. Also I wish they had just published this together with the other one, it's such a pain in the ass when Marvel and DC start publishing thinnest trade paperbacks like collectibles. MISSING THE POINT OF TRADES.
