So far, about as much fun as its movie counterpart. Pleasantly surprised.

On the back cover of this book, there is a quote from Vanity Fair: "The only convincing love story of our century."

Look. I knew what kind of book I was getting into here, but I am confused by the reactions to it. We're told that Humbert is a manipulator in the foreword, and his attempted manipulations of the reader are easily seen as he attempts to excuse what he's doing. Are people just falling for it or what?

This is, of course, a very uncomfortable read so far, though it's been interesting at least to spot the unreliability of our narrator so quickly. We'll see if I can get through it.

Didn't see that coming, tbh.

Loving everything about these characters and their relationships so far. As always, enjoying my love-driven sci-fi.

We've reached the part where my wife starts saying "Eh, we could just finish it all right now!" Which doesn't exactly work when you're reading it aloud and have 71 pages left.

Also, I'm floored by how different the experience is reading this a second time. Granted, I read it the first time when I was like 12. Even so, it's even better than I remember and that's saying something - I was obsessed when I was 12.
