Belle > Recent Status Updates

Just a general apology: I'm sorry my reviews have been so bad, especially lately. I can't seem to ever be in the mood for it, but need to write my thoughts down before I forget them, and then can't seem to create a coherent and cohesive, well-thought-out review to share. So: Sorry. I'll try and work on that this year.

So I've slowed down with my crazy a-book-a-day reading. 1) I can't afford the habit and 2) I am neglecting other things I need to do. Oh, also, I'm starting to confuse characters and storylines with so many books.

Sure was fun, though.

Ohmigoodness the endless run-on sentences!

I'm finding it incredibly difficult to grasp the concept that this book is based in Melbourne. I keep having weird moments of "huh. Lygon Street. We have a Lygon Street here! ...Oh. It /is/ here."

The awkward moment when you forget you hadn't finished the book, leaving ten pages unread, when you go to see the movie...and then get a MASSIVE shock at the end of the movie. :p

Yeah...somehow I doubt I"ll read 22 books before 2014. Goal abandoned =p

Today I attempt my final exam for my degree and future career.

This book is so goddamned /good/.

Today I bought 3 books, borrowed one from a friend and borrowed another from my city library. Reading is something I now have time for again - yay!!!

=( The hand-me-down ipad I was using to read this is failing me and I can't actually /access/ the book.

Somewhat regretting neglecting to find Finnikin of the Rock to re-read. I'm blank on all of these characters. Waaah!

Meh. Really unimpressed by my first taste of this author. Granted, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume it's because it's a different style (more YA) than her other, more popular books.

Yup, I'm still alive. So is my liking for this book. YAY

Ok, I'm giving Maria another chance. Something keeps pulling me back to her books, which is interesting considering my opinion on the more recent attempts. Inside Out, though, was a much better book. From memory, anyway.

Reading is (unfortunately) not a high priority what with hospital placements going on and sleep needing to be done when I'm not up late frantically trying to catch up with work. But I'm trying!

I'm really enjoying this so far. I'm quite amused by the little comments made and interested to know what's going to happen. I get a sense of a less-ridiculous/whimsical, slightly easier to read Douglas Adams (but of course Douglas Adams has many more points in his favour and many other things different from Jasper Fforde)
My point: I'm glad I chose this as my current book. =)

Hm. I think 'Touch of Power' has tainted my enjoyment of this book. This is rather upsetting.

Aaaaaaaaagh I'm about to leave to get on a plane and even though I really want to finish this book, I don't want to waste my bag space on something I'll finish within the first five minutes of the flight. I'm sorryyyyy!

I...don't really understand what Ilsa J. Bick is doing with this book. I find myself disapopinted.

I read the first sentence and KNEW this one is going to be amazing. Aah I'm so excited! I also think it's fate that I just finished a puzzle which is the same as the cover (these books have made me love Waterhouse!)

This book gets bonus points for mentioning physical therapy (not that it needed the bonus points in the first place)

Wow. Just...wow.

Here we are. My last new book (at the moment). Which means (hopefully) I'll back off from the dystopia for a little while. But we'll see. I'm very much a creature of habit.

I'm willing to give this one a chance to leave dystopian novels with a good impression in my head.

I'm really starting to scare myself - I'll go on a good old Goodreads browse, and find a book I want to read. Naturally, I go to hit "Want To Read". More often than not I'm discovering that I have, in fact, already hit this button. It's like deja vu over and over (and over and over) again.

I FINALLY came across a few complex sentences. Maria Snyder, I'm kind of disappointed with this!

*sigh*

Ugh. The first few pages seemed so promising. It has now well and truly lost me. If I didn't want/need to hit my challenged 50 books, I would probably abandon it.

So my parents took me to the bookshop yesterday (BIG mistake - it means they have to pay for the venture!). I controlled myself and only got THREE. Surprising, huh? YAY BOOKS!

(PS, can I just say - if you're a lover of large bookshops, Kinokuniya in Singapore is the place to go. Assuming you have some restraint and are prepared to spend HOURS there)

I'd forgotten how day-dreamy I get after reading several books in a relatively short period.

It probably has a lot to do with its year+ spent in the sunshine, but this book has the most GORGEOUS browning of the pages and - OH MY GOODNESS - the smell!!! *sighs happily*
