Jose Martin is on page 90 of 467 of The Seven Storey Mountain
Thomas Merton believed that avoiding suffering can lead to more suffering, while embracing suffering with faith can lead to spiritual growth. He argued that our response to suffering depends on our love: selfish love makes suffering hateful, but loving God allows suffering to be a path to spiritual renewal and a deeper connection to Christ.

Jose Martin is 80% done with The Big Sleep (Philip Marlowe, #1)
My brain ticked like a clock.

My mind drifted through waves of false memory, in which I seemed to do the same thing over and over again, go to the same places, meet the same people, say the same words to them, over and over again, and yet each time it seemed real, like something actually happening, and for the first time.

Jose Martin is finished with The Big Sleep (Philip Marlowe, #1)
I got up and took a drink, although it was the wrong time of day, and lay down again. I still couldn't go to sleep.

Jose Martin is starting Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
An original novel that hooked me from the start, drawing a strange and vivid futuristic world. It made me wonder—are we becoming like androids without empathy in a world controlled by social networks and algorithms?

Jose Martin is starting Magpie Murders (Susan Ryeland, #1)
I don’t remember exactly why I bought this book. I was reading slow horses, was quite disappointed and I think I ask the AI to give me recommendations of new mystery novels. And this appeared. It was on sale as a hardcover and I love them so I bought it. It’s a nice edition. The novel is readable, but lacks suspense. Is like a plain Cabernet.
