Cindy is starting The Girl, the Gold Watch & Everything
Recommended thru the library when I put an other book on hold. I vaguely remember the made for TV movie back in the 80s.

Kevin Hearne named one of his characters Stephen Blackmoore. I'm willing to bet there was a wager involved...

I think I may have read these short stories in other collections. I do not care. I will enjoy reading them again.

Okay...this is not what I expected. I decided to read this after reading a review that mentioned that it is told thru interviews. An unusual approach and certainly intriguing. I don't normally read zombie horror books, but I'm always looking for something different.

I think I know where the story is going. However, it's Brandon Sanderson, so I'm sure I am wrong.

I will warn that this is very hard to read on the Kindle. The footnotes for Allanncer Jak were hard to use (and I almost missed them). The White Sands sample is also hard to read, as it's not coded to read graphic novels.
I am skipping the sections for series I have yet to read. What I have read, I truely enjoyed (Allamancer Jak and The Pits of Eltania might just be one of the best Brandon Sanderson thing ever.)

So I just downloaded a book titled Midnight Riot, but this is what shows up on Goodreads. Looks like the same book has been published under two different titles.

However, it sucked me in on the first paragraph.

After recommending this to the husband, decided I needed to re read it.
Second reading has been interesting. Knowing where the story is headed gives it a slightly different feel.

Kudos to an author who names a character Cindy Lou Hu.

Not sure if it's bad life timing or if this book just isn't for me. I am curious as to where it's going, but I just haven't connected enough with the story or characters. Considering I've had the book for over a week and I'm only on chapter 11, I think this is going to go into limbo.

Second reading: this is a hard one, as I found this to be the darkest book in the series.

this is probably going to go into limbo. While I love a lot about it, it is emotionally draining. More than I can deal with right now. (war is hell. so is the aftermath)

45 pages in and I do not believe that Halliday is actually dead (and I may even suspect who he is...)

I think I may have made a mistake starting this without re-reading the previous books. There's a lot of references to the original stories and quite frankly I'm really struggling remembering some of the characters and plot points. Debating if I should put this in limbo until I have a chance to re-read them.

Snuggled in last night to read "Staked". Then right there in the intro Mr. Hearne was quite clear that "A Prelude To War" was necessary to understand where "Staked" starts out. So I'll enjoy a quick short story first! (I probably won't read the other two stories in the book right away as I do really want to read the latest Iron Druid).

I keep waiting for this to blow me away. So many 5 stars ratings. Tie in merchandise and theme parks? Really? I'm not saying that it's not good, but I still don't get why this became the book of obsessive fandom.

So I'm still curious why this book/series became such the juggernaut. There's globs of good books out there. I still haven't found this one to be of a different level.

We'll see how the lat 20% goes

ya... finally getting around to reading this one. I stupidly watched the movie when it came out and wasn't overly impressed. It's been long enough that I think I can separate the two... we'll see.
