I... don't know if I like it? I keep searching for the point. I'm sure it's there. But I can't stop listening to it, so there's that.

reading a popular modern novel is artistically wanting after all these classics but its also uhhhh pulpy enough to be a page turner. I can't stop listening oh nooooo.

So far I like the parts about the portly homesick mom, and not liking the parts about crop wilt or mold or w/e. I'm thinking Willa Cather lends herself to calm, slow floaty reading rather than the intensity of audiobook. *shrug* It's really a different direction from recent readings.

As read by Ruby Dee, who is super into it. It's really good and engaging, and earlier 1900s American Black Lit is a humongous gap in my reading (so so many cranky early/mid-century british boys on my roster, man). So. Here I am. Happy to be here.

If I was to say I'm reading this because I want to have the Lil Nas X song in my head everyday I wouldn't be lying. It doesn't totally suck.

Unsurprisingly, Flannery O'Connor still slaps.

Dense. and heavy. And important. Enjoying it, but also struggling. :O

hellllll yes. Junji Ito is so ridiculously hilariously scary and I love it.
