I received this book from Libro.fm’s educator selection. This is a thought provoking story that is intended for early elementary but it can certainly be used through the middle grades to spur conversation about the conflicts between water preservation and drilling for fossil fuels.

I first learned of this book on a podcast and was intrigued. A biographical history, set during the Civil War, highlighting the efforts of women whose names never made it into a history book - this is my favorite type book.
