Eh oui, ANOTHER series mixing history novel and crime, (which I like!). The plot takes place during the second half of the XVIIIth century in London. What is intriguing here is that the main character, judge John Fielding really existed. He was blind and happened to be the half brother of Henry Fielding. On the top of it, Bruce Alexander’s style is really enjoyable. Let’s keep an eye on this series!

Not the funniest story, very very violent most of the time, but I am intrigued by the world building so I carry on reading.

Back to it!

“Enjoyability” level: high.
“-That was a joke by the way, he clarified
- Yeah, you probably find that kind of humour works best on people whose relatives you didn’t murder”

Nice mystery based in London with 2 Chinese investigators who remind me of Holmes and Watson.

Page turner here!

Very intense story, the main character goes through all sorts of abuse…not an easy reading at all.

First novel I read by this Scottish author, good style, interesting plot in Scotland and L.A. Unusual to read a crime novel where the crime scenes are in 2 countries. I wonder how and if they will be connected…

Hooked!
