1.5 hours left in this audiobook and there's a POV change? This is the worst.

I am not digging the audiobook. The narrator's "dragon" voices are just as grating as John Cleese's "women" in every Monty Python sketch. Without the hilarity.

I was annoyed before making it to page one. I loathe Content Warnings. I want to be surprised by terrible twists and tragedies--or "non-consensual enchantments" & "fantasy substance abuse"--just like in real life.

I usually pull out 4 or 5 books (this round: Beautiful World, Where Are You; Franny & Zooey; My Brilliant Friend; Summerwater) and read the first 10 pages of each to help me decide what to read next. Sarah Moss caught me in the first page with "...it is raining: the sounds of water on leaves and bark, on roofs and stones..."

I was reading in the lunchroom and a coworker saw the title and sighed, "Ah, that's sweet."

"It's not!" -Thus concludes my book review.

I've been reading a lot of fluffy romances lately. It's time for true book about real love. 🥃
