my beautiful beautiful wife has been trying to get me to read danmei for 500 years and I'm really going to do it this time. I am ready for beautiful freaked out men and a complicated magic system.

"...In a solitary life, there are rare moments when another soul dips near yours, as stars once a year brush the earth. Such a constellation was he to me."

"'let me not hear you speak again of your imbecile gratitude or I will make you sorry for it'... I yanked off the cloak. I wanted the sun to burn me. I wanted it to scorch me down to bone."

I need to remember that I have to read decent prose if i'm in a writing slump. sometimes I just can't swallow the slop 3 thank you Madeline Miller for saving my life and my reading goal

YO WHAT? sharing sex dreams uncle to nephew to wolf was enough honestly i cannot deal with body swapping to make an heir. does this not feel incestuous and eye-roll-y to anyone else? lmaoo. i miss lady patience.... milf come back to me <3

i think... the only reason this book is tolerable for me is because i'm ignoring the bits where fitz is suddenly obsessed with the idea of becoming a father at 18 years old when he barely knows who he is and is still an immature brat! :)

if you made it through the last book and hated it there really is light at the end of the tunnel. i don't know what was happening for robin hobb or her editor when she wrote royal assassin, but this book is SO MUCH BETTER. I thought the transition from a life altering event for fitz at the end of the last novel to the beginning of his story here was well handled, and the quest has been very fun to read!

molly and fitz have so little chemistry its turning me off the story. is that the point?? if so.... i'm not a fan. all he has thought about for the last NINE chapters has been her. at least he finally kissed her instead of having his 500th wet dream that he shares with his uncle. eeeyuck.

okay! i'm intrigued! i was losing hope for a second but I was immediately taken with Lady Patience, and more mention of the fool. of fitz and the fool fame, I can only assume 🤨 I also definitely started this thinking that each trilogy was complete and different and that fitz's story would be complete at the end of these next 3 books... six... TEEN. oh boy. right after i finished 7 monster bone season novels??

hmmm. listening to the hyper light drifter soundtrack while reading does add to the experience! as a trigun maximum enjoyer i am not really seeing the vashwood
