I forgot I started reading this before and was very confused by how familiar it was.

It reminds me of the Franklin expedition & that terrified walk into the night in Gjoa Haven after hearing Inuit ghost stories about laughing & tricky spirits on the wind.

Amabel is hysterically funny.

I mean I guess we can base a relationship on someone acting extremely high handed. “Why didn’t you believe me when I said you were perfectly safe? You’re so unreasonable!” OH MAYBE ITS BECAUSE YOUVE PUT HER IN DELIBERATE DANGER AND SHE NOW HAS A HEAD INJURY


Mrs c something’s whole character is berating everyone else (though, it’s pretty warranted).

I genuinely admire Hugo’s ability to keep the bit going.

This book is so funny.

Can’t tell if I’m getting sick or if this is unengaging. My throat does hurt though.

Reminds me of Maggie Stiefvaters writing— at least the content. Less poetic, though.

Not for me. Narrator is the kind of “extremely clever/witty fantasy bro” that really irks me.
