Asked to see what the first story was about and ended up finishing it. WWII seems to like popping up every now and then in my life. Such a tightly controlled narrative!

Already loving this SO much more. I had no idea who the romantic interest was at first (always, ALWAYS a good sign)! Even disliked/mistrusted him!!! The friendship is blossoming naturally and feels genuine. Emily Henry dialogue is building the relationships, showing rather than telling! Hurray!

I quite enjoyed this one 🥲💔 The close ties to Taiwan makes a good 25% of the story, and the literomancy makes the other 75%. Not a fan of the long history lessons and historical excerpt, but that's largely attributed to the fact that I already know most of that story, if not in detail.
