I'm slowly rereading the same edition and its terrific supply of end notes, schema, maps, etc. Completely captivated by "Proteus" and "Calypso," caring even less for "Scylla and Charybdis."

Zeroing in on the end, here. Did you know the initials of Joelle van Dyne's "Madame Psychosis" moniker, M.P., are the same as for "military police," the only thing Don Gately's abusive quasi-step-father goes by in his memory.

I finished the really long endnote with its own endnotes. The book could end at just about any point after this and I'd be glad.

The 36 Heavenly Spirits and 72 Earthly Fiends are now completely assembled at Liangshan Marsh, their bloody exploits have only become more brazen, and in a climactic end to volume III, they've rejected the emperor's amnesty offer. What could go wrong?

Vol. II done. Idea for a very risky drinking game: take a swig of wine for every bowl of wine drunk in the novel.

Vol. 1 done.
They headed for Cangzhou, crossing mountains and streams, passing county towns and prefectural cities. Travelers stopping at inns must be careful of two things -- eating from infected bowls and sleeping in beds where men have died.
But to get back to our story...
